This is something you should ask Dehrek Guerra. He owns a 5150 and a JCM 2000. I have played both. The JCM 2000 has awesome clean, and it's distortion is alright for most rock stuff. The 5150 has awesome distortion (in my opinion, anything by Peavey has the best distortion, especially the XXX). I hated the clean on the 5150 I use, but when I bought my Jackson, I fell in love, it was a perfect match. I had an EMG 81 installed in the bridge position to give the distortion a boost and it sounds awesome. I use the stock Seymour Duncan pickup in the neck position for playing in clean, and for some reason the Seymour Duncan pickup makes the 5150's clean sound way better (especially for a good jazzy clean like the clean of Carlos Santana or BTBAM). Danny and I repped tits about our Guitar Tech-ness when we brought my Jackson in to get worked on. Don't mess with us. Final decision: if you are in a metal or hardcore band, and you use EMG's or any other good active pickups, 5150's are awesome. If you want a head that you will hold on to forever and you play a stock and simple guitar, get the JCM2000. Final final comment that has anything to do with the thread: I'd say they are pretty equal in trading terms.

yea, me and bri fuckin told that fool right in front of his boss that he was totally wrong and that it is more than possible to install a non-active pickup along with an active pickup on the same guitar, what a shithead....
but that place does really nice work, and they are very fast
real guitars, in the city
and be prepared, if you want 2 emg's installed, i swear to you that they will say: "oh, are you going for the metallica sort of thing?"

I'm totally happy with my Jackson. ~bri

50 watts sound a million times better cranked than a 100 watt at half power.
