We're a bunch of good friends who are working on a new project, and are looking for a solid drummer. We're fairly particular about who we want to play music with, and a little apprehensive in principle about searching the Craigslist world. Apologies if we don't return an email - if you are looking for a jam band or Fallout Boy-meets-Korn, we won't waste each others time.
Musically, we are somewhere in the world of DIY punk/hardcore/emo. We all listen to a wide variety of stuff, but what we've been writing could be in the vein of bands like 400 Years, Hoover, Samiam, Torches to Rome/Bread and Circuits, Leatherface, Rites of Spring, Econochrist, Planes Mistaken for Stars, Yage, Envy, or Seaweed. Pretty driving melodic hc/punk, but not "pop punk". Some occasional unusual tempo/timing stuff, some dynamics, sometimes heavier, sometimes more angular (who coined that term anyway?) We're into pushing stuff in a heavier vein as well - we're still writing stuff together.
WE ARE:
in our late 20's / early 30's
been playing / touring / recording in DIY bands for many years
Share DIY ethics
some vegan, some straightedge, some not.
socially conscious/politically aware - but not preachy
Activists, teachers, silk screeners, IT workers
We're looking for a drummer that isn't just starting out - someone who can play their instrument fairly competently. Hard-hitting is good, having decent gear is nice, but having a good attitude and similar musical perspectives is more important. Progressive politics is good (just don't be an ignorant douchebag), having minimal baggage (Drugs, alcohol, finances, drama) is good, and having been in bands before is good, but not required.
We are all busy with other things in life, and are looking to practice 1x (sometimes maybe 2x) a week, record, play some shows, and maybe limited touring. We don't see this project doing intensive touring, but could be a possibility as schedules allow.
Drop us a line if you think you might be a good fit!
