Can anyone tell me how I can convert a 100W Head to 50W?
I have an English 2203 100W JCM800 Lead Series head and I want to get better tones and feedback, but at a lower volume. My amp is always too loud at shows (anything past 2 or 3 - sometimes 1! - is too loud). So I always find myself sacrificing a lot of what I'd ideally like my amp to sound like for the sake of not bursting people's ear drums.
A long time back Matt Spady made my Crate BV120 a 50W (roughly?) head. I believe he took out two power tubes. Is it as simple as that? Or what would I need to do? Also, voltage/ohm-wise on the head what should I do?
Any help would be much appreciated!

pull either the inner two or outer two power tubes. if you have an 8 ohm cab run the head at 16 ohms.
